Club History
I have heard it said
that the most powerful thing in the world is an idea. The Pardoe
Sportsmen’s Association is a perfect example of that statement.
On 16 January 1949, a meeting was held in the basement of the Catholic
Church in Pardoe for the purpose of forming a sportsmen’s club in the
community. There were thirty-onein attendance.
First on the agenda was a name, and after due deliberation, it was
decided that this club should be known as the PARDOE SPORTSMEN’S
ASSOCIATION.
Next step was to choose who would lead this new found association. An
election of officers was held and the following were chosen:
-
President - Harold W. Shaffer
-
Vice President- George E. Reiser
-
Recording Secretary-Norbert C. Shaffer
-
Financial Secretary-Frank E. Reeher.
The President appointed a committee consisting of
George Reiser, Dick Bagnall, A.B. Warner, and Frank Reeher. The purpose
of the committee was purchasing membership cards.
The Recording Secretary was instructed to contact various firms to
purchase membership buttons, game for stocking, etc.
The President adjourned the meeting at 4 P.M.
